GDPR
What is GDPR?
The General Data Protections Regulation, or GDPR, is a regulation created by the European Union to provide EU citizens with more control of their personal data. After May 25th 2018, those businesses which do not meet the guidelines are subject to heavy fines.
What is GDPR Compliance?
GDPR Compliance happens in two ways - organizations that gather personal data must do it under legal conditions, and that organizations which collect and manage personal data must prevent the data from being misused or exploited. In simplest terms - you have to collect personal information with EU citizen's consent, and you can't do anything unethical or questionable with that information.
Should I Follow GDPR Compliance?
You need to follow GDPR compliance if your organization is operating inside of the EU, or if you're outside of the EU but offer goods or services to businesses and customers inside the EU.
GDPR compliance can be a lengthy process, and while it is possible to become approved, many smaller companies have chosen to avoid the EU altogether to prevent any issues with possible fines. The decision is up to you and the level of business you do with those inside the EU.
Maximus and GDPR
Maximus is on the Internet Advisory Board’s (IAB) Transparency and Consent Framework for GDPR compliance. This means that as a facilitator for traffic, we're able to work around the world and inside of the EU to help you reach audiences from countries in Europe!
While Maximus' GDPR compliance makes us a platform you can use to target these audiences, you still must adhere to the GDPR restrictions and guidelines if your goods or services are targeting EU citizens.
White Label Domains
You can choose to use a custom domain name for your tracking with Maximus if you'd like to, and we offer this service free of charge to Professional plan users. We're able to add a domain we've created for your traffic to our own GDPR framework, so you can use this new White Label domain for your Maximus tracking all around the world.
