Protect Profit Slow and Stop

What are Protect Profit Slow and Stop?

Protect Profit Slow and Stop are designed to let you lock in your profits on a campaign and slow down the incoming traffic or pause the campaign altogether to guarantee you keep the profit you're looking to get per day on a campaign.

Both Protect Profit Slow and Protect Profit Stop work on a daily basis, and will exit at 12:00am.

Using this in conjunction with other budget scaling and protection features like Budget Increase and Slow and Stop Amount can let Fire & Forget scale your budget safely and get the profit you're looking for.

You can disable these Protect Profit features by clicking the toggle next to Protect Profit Slow.

How Does Protect Profit Slow Work?

Once your campaign has reached the Protect Profit Slow value you've entered, Maximus will set the campaign CPC to the Lowest Bid value. This means you feel comfortable spending a little bit more on the campaign to possibly get more conversions, but don't want to risk spending too much.

When campaigns enter Protect Profit Slow, a notification will appear in the bottom right. To learn more about User Notifications, click here.

When Protect Profit Slow is triggered any site modifications will be removed.

Any changes made to CPC values (campaign or site/widget CPC) while a campaign is in Slow Amount will be set back to the lowest bid amount.
For Taboola, Outbrain, and Gemini, bid modifiers are updated to 0% to bid at the campaign level CPC and then the campaign CPC is changed. For Revcontent, updates are sent to widget bids.

If the campaign's profit drops below the Protect Profit Slow value, it will exit and optimizations will continue to happen on the campaign.

How Does Protect Profit Stop Work?

If a campaign reaches Protect Profit Stop, Maximus will pause the campaign. The campaign will be restarted when the next day starts in US Eastern Timezone.

When campaigns enter Protect Profit Stop, a notification will appear in the bottom right. To learn more about User Notifications, click here.

Any changes made to CPC values (campaign or site CPC) while a campaign is in Protect Profit Stop will be set back to the lowest bid amount. Since Protect Profit Slow will occur before Protect Profit Stop, all site bids are wiped before Protect Profit Stop.

For Taboola, Outbrain, and Gemini, bid modifiers are updated to 0% to bid at the campaign level CPC and then the campaign CPC is changed.
Revcontent campaigns will not have Widget level bids cleared by Protect Profit Stop.

Examples

Example 1

Your campaign has a Protect Profit Slow of $200, and a Protect Profit Stop of $300. The campaign has hit $200 in profit and Protect Profit Slow is enabled. A few minutes later some additional traffic has come in and your campaign now only has $190 in profit.

Since the campaign has a profit lower than the Protect Profit Slow value, it exits Protect Profit Slow and optimizations like Desired Click Pacing, Acceptable Profit, and Site Acceptable Profit can run on the campaign.

Example 2

A campaign has a Protect Profit Stop amount of $400. A few minutes later the profit drops to $395 as clicks have come in.

Since it entered Protect Profit Stop, the campaign was paused. No further changes happen and the campaign remains paused until the morning when it will become active again.

Common Uses

When you have campaigns running that you know can sway from profitable to breakeven or even loss, if you want to lock in profit and prevent anything from risking you losing that profit you can utilize the Protect Profit features.

This may work if your campaign has high traffic volume during some times of the day and may not convert for larger periods of time, especially if you have a very high payout and need to use higher site bids to drive traffic to get conversions.
